Abstract:
|
|
The works here are derived from Julia-set fractals which have been calculated with quaternions rather than complex numbers.
The quaternionic fractal that results is a 4-dimensional object.
In order to create a viewable (i.e. comprehendible) representation, a 3-dimensional "slice" (technically, a
volume) is taken and then ray-traced as a 2-dimensional image.
In the case of the above animations, the "slice" is then moved through the quaternionic fractal, creating
multiple frames.
