ell, we just returned from watching The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, and I have to say that I was impressed. The movie was great. It stayed fairly true to the book, with a handful of exceptions. If you are a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien, then you will love this movie. If you have never read the trilogy, be prepared to cover a lot of ground. With the notable exceptions of Tom Bombadil, the Dark Forest, the Barrow Downs and a good portion of the early scenes in The Shire and Bree, the filmmakers managed to cover the entire book. The casting is excellent, and those of you who have always wondered what Elvish actually sounds like will be happily surprised.
n any case, the film is a definite good time. Don't fret about the 178-minute running time; I didn't even notice it. You cover so much territory in that time, that you never have a chance to get even remotely bored.
ow I'm off to bed, g'night...
