After the September 11th attacks, I became something of a news whore. In retrospect I believe it was a psychological response to an uncontrollable situation... the more I knew, the better I felt. I found that I could not begin my workday without first browsing the major news websites.
Eventually, the need to constantly stay abreast of breaking news faded, and some measure of sanity returned to my browsing habits. However, one lingering side effect remains: an acute awareness of the day-to-day patterns that occur in news reporting.
Which brings us to my latest work of algorithmic art: News Whore. The project is updated on a daily basis and should be seen as an evolving glimpse into the psyche of a news whore.
