Juan Cole, Professor of History at the University of Michigan, wrote an interesting article last month titled If America were Iraq, What would it be Like? (the direct link on that site doesn't work well, you may have to scroll down a bit to find the article) My apologies for neglecting to post it here earlier.
If you're one of the handful of regulars who read this page, you may have noticed a design change. If you get a chance, let me know what you think. I'm not finished quite yet, there are still the Art and Photo sections to address, but so far I'm happy with it.
I have been working on a new algorithmic art series. There is enough material to start posting, but I am having a great deal of difficulty trying to title the project as a whole. The first example has been posted on the front page of the website for the time being. The piece is tentatively titled The "Known" Soldier:

2004.10.13 - I created this haunting, nearly recognizable face by combining the available portraits of every American soldier killed
in Iraq from March 2003 to September 2004.
This is the face of America's sacrifice, the face of more than a thousand families' pain.
Do you recognize it?
