I'm not going to waste my breath complaining about the election outcome. Am I disappointed? Of course. Am I discouraged? No. I am, in some strange way, emboldened...
It has become clear to me, through the course of this election and its unfortunate outcome, that we are faced with a battle in this country - a struggle between the philosophies of Intellect and Reason and those of Faith and Belief. It is a conflict that has been long brewing. I will not stand idle while literalists, who adhere to a set of myths and superstitions established a millennia and a half before this continent was even discovered, attempt to force their fundamentalist world view upon the rest of the country. It is time for those of us who believe in peace and the power of reason to band together and make our voices heard.
I apologize if I'm not making much sense - the last two months have been a blur of 80-100 hour work weeks topped off by a gut-punch of an election. I'll try to be more coherent next time. I promise.
