A couple of entries ago, I posted a new piece entitled The "Known" Soldier. The idea for this piece was kicking around in my skull for a few weeks before I found the time to write the code that generated the image. In the end, I was able to create a relatively simple process for taking a large number of small images and compositing them into a single, large image.
I don't recall the original impetus behind the project. It was likely a combination of my open opposition to the war in Iraq, having a brother in the regular Army, and a long standing interest in studying commonalities across groups of images. In any case, I was totally unprepared for the results of the process - so unprepared, that I wept.
It's a month later, and I've finally posted more pieces. They are collectively called Photáges (thank you Abby!). There are three categories as of now: political, faces and erotic. You should expect to see more Photáges, as my interest in the project is currently somewhere between fixation and obsession.
Oh, and I got a new tattoo:
